Good collection. Try listening to Bethany Joy Lenz's Crazy Girls --one of my favbourires.
You Belong To Me is actually an old song--one which i use to sing in my secondary school concerts with my guitar.---Yes thats how old it is. HEHEH. Jason Wade dis a good job renewing it. Not much difference from the old one actuslly.

The Rose - is my all-time favourite. I use it to teach English and the melody is just superb isn't it ?
Quite a few of your selections are my favourite as well.

Will tell u ,more about my favs.

I didn't notice in your list before. It is my all-time favourite. Takes me back to my student days in UK. May I recall it here ? Thanks.

It was a beautiful summer. I took a trip with a friend to a sea-side resort town called Scarborough.

Being summer--everybody is out in the sun--including this Melayu. Music was blasting from a nearby fair and we could hear it loud and clear from the beach.

We were just lazing on the beach appreciating this song --'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow".

Normally i would be the talkative one but at that moment we were just being quiet--especially me.

Then my friend spoke, 'Talk to me!'
(I'm sure you must have heard me say this to the class many times. ) I remain quiet. Again-"talk to me !" The song just took away my mood to talk.

THEN, i felt liquid on my head. My friend was so fed-up. With a bottle of coke in hand, the liquid was poured over me completely.

Thus begin rolling and wrestling in the sand. Those were the days...

Thank you for reminding me...

Well-talking about old songs--look for this one. 'Love On The Rocks' by Neil Diamond.
When you do tell me what you think of it. Heres the lyrics.

Written by: neil diamond and gilbert becaud

"Love on the rocks
Aint no surprise
Pour me a drink
And Ill tell you some lies
Got nothing to lose
So you just sing the blues all the time

Gave you my heart
Gave you my soul
You left me alone here
With nothing to hold
Yesterdays gone
Now all I want is a smile

First, they say they want you
How they really need you
Suddenly you find youre out there
Walking in the storm
When they know they have you
Then they really have you
Nothing you can do or say
Youve got to leave, just get away
We all know the song

You need what you need
You can say what you want
Not much you can do
When the feeling is gone
May be blue skies above
But its cold when youre loves on the rocks

First, they say they want you
How they really need you
Suddenly you find youre out there
Walking in the storm
When they know they have you
Then they really have you
Nothing you can do or say
Youve got to leave, just get away
We all know the song

Love on the rocks
Aint no surprise
Pour me a drink
And Ill tell you some lies
Yesterdays gone
And now all I want is a smile"

Thanks sir...really nice song...and.. nice voice too,Neil Diamond...

Wow..I never expect you had a story behind the song--will you still love me tomorrow.
That's the song I always sang when I was still in primary school, around (1992-1997)...I think that time people haven't use CDs yet..and so my parents had lots of karaoke video tapes of old songs... my sister and I love to sing, my parent's video tape collections was our only source of musics with lyrics...That's how I started listen to old songs..and I believe that's how I learned English when i was young..ehe..

Other song that I love to sing when I was little-apart from 'will you still love me tomorrow'- Sad movie always make me cry, Puppy love, Casablanca, Oh Carol, and lots more that I couldn't remember now...

Woh!! Those songs goes way bacl when !

But i love Casablanca ! It sets the mood for a club scene in Casablanca , in Morocco.

All the mysteries AND romance of this queer town, with the ceiling fan spinning lazily, cigarette smoke forming mist in the dark room, men in white coats smoking cigars wiping their sweat with white handkerchief, glass of whisky on the bar counter.

And this woman singing.
And the band playing--maybe even the song 'Casablenca' where this person fell in love.

Anyway--i was getting carried away.
Yes , like you, thats how i learn English when i was young. Songs and lyrics !

I remember sad movies too. Try listening to Stand By Me. It has been renewed so many times by so many singers.

Yea...I know that song...I listen to this song when i was a kid too...
The original singer of Stand By Me is John Lennon, right?
I like most of his song..especially Imagine...

there are not many youngsters who appreciate the old songs. For me, I amfortunate that i listen to the aoldies and the newer ones --as long as theres good melody and lyrics.
Well there was a black group who sang it first - can't remember it though. Since then there are others and Lenon is one of them.

Talking about John Lenon--i love listening to Woman.

'Words don't Come Easy' by F.R. David.

Look for it! I just know you'll love this.
